Sitting down with a General of Intercession

How did your journey into
ministry begin?
The Lord called me to the ministry at a church camp when I was nine years old. It wasn’t until I was 30 that I began to have an inkling what “being called” might mean. Part of the reason for the delay and why the Lord had to take me on a journey of discovering my calling was that I didn’t know any other women in ministry in my circles.

From then on God began to rapidly and
supernaturally open doors for me to
speak. I was asked to speak for women’s groups of churches that had 5,000 members, and other large gatherings.

I think I got to where I am today by carefully seeking the Lord about each
and every opportunity. In addition, our call to gather the generals to pray in unity for nations accelerated
our visibility.

How did you and Generals International connect with
The Titus Group?
We received a call from our board member and good friend, Helena Hwang, that a group out of Singapore were interested in helping the prophets. This deeply touched our hearts because we have been one of the pioneers for the prophetic intercession message in general. When you have a pioneering message, it can be a financial challenge because the concept is so new or unfamiliar to people who might be potential donors.

The Titus Group [and their Kingdom Investors] encouraged our hearts in a
huge way, and their giving exponentially thrust us into a new level of ministry.

Can you name a person who has
had a tremendous impact on you
as a Christian leader?
My father was the biggest influence on my life in my formative stages. He was a Baptist pastor and incredibly wise.

Later, in my thirties, I met Peter Wagner, who became my spiritual
dad and my mentor. He had me lecture on spiritual warfare at Fuller Theological Seminary. This thrust the message to worldwide visibility and put me on larger platforms. I also learned how to function with many different circles of ministry.

One of the biggest areas that he mentored me in was writing books. He tore apart my first writings and showed me how to communicate truth in a personable and readable style.

What is your travel schedule like right now?
Out of all the countries you have visited, which stirs your heart the most?
Recently, I traveled 280 days out of the year and spoke in 65 cities across 18 nations.

My first international love was the nation of Argentina because I was involved in the revival in that nation for many years. Asia has been strongly on our hearts for many years, and God has used us as a prophetic voice to Singapore, Hong Kong, mainland China, Indonesia, and other nations.

What do you love most about
what you do? What sets you apart from other ministries in the prophetic space?
Generals International brings leaders together in unity to make plans to transform whole nations. Our strategy leads to reformation of the nations
as well. We develop national prayer strategies. For instance, in the
United States, we have a 50 state
prayer network that, among other projects, is working on prayer walking the entire country.

I really don’t know another ministry that does quite what we do. As Generals, we network other ministries together for prayer, strategic planning, and implementing the word of the Lord for a nation. As a leader, I meet with the presidents of nations to give them strategy for their countries.

What does it mean to be a “General”? How can people learn to train their “General muscles”?
A General is a leader of leaders who gathers influencers and connects other prayer leaders to develop national prayer strategies. In addition, a General trains other leaders to be able to hear God’s voice, so people can find their individual destinies and purpose in God.

We have training materials available in the area of both the prophetic and spiritual warfare. This material is a compilation of thirty-plus years of experience and teaching to train up
a general.

What do you think the biggest challenge facing Christian leaders
is today?
I think that leaders have a lot of vision, but the challenge of raising the finances to implement their vision is difficult. Also, there is a need to make sure that one stays in intimacy with the Lord in the midst of busy schedules with many people making demands upon you.

Can you explain the impact, that social networking and the Web 2.0 has made on Generals International or you personally?
I have worked at social networking for a number of years now. It is a critical tool, which can be used to communicate vision through inter-personal relationships. Now we have around 400,000 on our social media reach. The web is the portal that allows people to be trained, communicated with, and mentored. We can reach people in places we might never physically make it to.

What is the current dream
of your heart for the next generation? How can we participate in your mission?
We are actively engaged in mentoring the next generation. We are doing this by adding them to our prophetic roundtable and inviting them to other inter-generational roundtables to have times of listening and sharing together. We are also in the process of experimenting with webinars as a means to mentor even more people.

It is our dream to inspire many others to do the same. We need to leave a legacy behind us that will build upon everything my generation has learned.
